There had been talk about Kristen Wiig being in talks for the role of Cheetah in the Wonder Woman sequel, and just a little bit ago, director Patty Jenkins confirmed it in a tweet:
As previously discussed, the sequel to the box office and groundbreaking hit will take place in the 80’s and as of yet, we’re not sure which version of Cheetah that we will get. The most recent, depicts her as an archaeologist friend of Diana’s who becomes evil after coming into contact with an ancient deity. That is the Barbara Ann Minerva character that we’ve been told would be the basis for this movie.
Wiig, although known as a comedic actress, can certainly hold her own in serious roles, and will certainly add a flair as the main antagonist in this film. Considering that the cause of Minerva’s transformation is largely unintentional, there’s an opportunity for Jenkins to be able to paint her as a sympathetic bad guy, which has performed well in recent films (see: Killmonger in Black Panther.) The sequel is currently on pace for a November 1, 2019 release. What are your thoughts about Wiig facing off with Gadot in Wonder Woman 2? Let us know!
It seems that the X-Men universe is the best at finding busy actors for one off projects. Multiple sources today report that James Franco is in talks to play the mutant, Multiple Man, existing in the same world as Gambit, New Mutants, Deadpool, X-Force and of course, the X-Men. Cue the Eric Dane (played the role in X-Men: Last Stand) cameo in 3, 2, 1…
Multiple Man (real name, Jamie Madrox,) has the ability to not only clone himself instantly, but also send those clones of to be in different places, doing different things, with different people, all at the same time. His powers are usually controlled by a suit he wears to contain the kinetic energy that causes the instant cloning to happen. Franco and X-Men producer Simon Kinberg apparently created the idea while working on the Hardy Men, in which James and Dave Franco play the grown-up Hardy Boys. Yes, that already sounds perfect. Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman) would write the script.
James Franco may need one of these suits as well. Along with the Hardy Men project, he just finished doing just about everything to make The Disaster Artist, played identical twins on HBO’s The Deuce (with a second season already confirmed,) and has no less than 12 other projects currently in some form of production. Are we sure he isn’t the Multiple Man already? Let’s hope he finds the time to send a clone over to get this done! Tell us what you think – comment or tweet us!
As of this post we are 9 days away from DC’s Mightiest Heroes converge on the big screen. Now there are many fans both die-hard and casual who are concerned about how this film will turn out. Critics destroyed Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad was constantly asked how did all that could go wrong, actually go wrong with such an incredible ensemble cast.
Then there was the emergence of Wonder Woman which took the world by storm and is still garnering both repeat and new viewers. So with Justice League the question came caan Warner Bros and DC maintain that momentum.
Well we may have an answer to that. With Warner Bros. being known to test screen their films, they have decided to present it to audiences with no knowledge of comic books and comic backstories, which is pretty much what they did with Wonder Woman before it premiered.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the most recent test screening to Justice League has been seen with audience scores similar to what Wonder Woman earned back in May of this year before it’s debut.
WSJ notes that Justice League is on track for a domestic opening over $100M -which if it’s is getting the same praise as Wonder Woman it’s totally possible.
What do you think? Do you agree it has the potential to hit the $100million mark opening weekends
The League unites on November 17, 2017
