We already knew the sequel to Deadpool was going to be stuffed with a lot more characters. Who everyone was playing was still up in the air, until the recent trailer dropped.
We get a little of everyone in this, and the major questions are answered. Terry Crews was rumored to be a number of different black characters, which I’m not sure is a greater disservice to Crews, the DP2 costumers or the other black characters he was rumored to be. It’s apparent from this trailer that he is going to be playing Bedlam, who made his original appearance in the Age Of Apocalypse story line (one of my favorites,) and then popped up again as an experimented on teenager, saved by a mutant reclamation project started by Charles Xavier called M.U.S.E. (Mutant Underground Support Engine,) in the Marvel Universe.
His powers are pretty wild, as he is always emitting pulse energy, and can detect both brain waves and electrical energy, with the ability to manipulate both someone’s consciousness or their machinery, armor, etc.
At the 1:36 mark in the trailer, Crews picture as Bedlam is the first, followed by Rob Delaney’s with the name Peter. Since Delaney is not playing Colossus, that leaves Pete Wisdom as the likely choice, especially considering the dapper suit he’s wearing. Wisdom was a British secret service agent in the comics, and could throw energy blades from his fingers. It’s a character that could easily be turned into a snarky American that would fit Delaney, all respect due! Wisdom actually had a mini-series with Kitty Pryde at one point, which tempts questions as to what he may link to, considering a solo Pryde film is in the works as well.
People are actually questioning whether Shiori Kutsuna is playing Surge or Psylocke, and I think recasting Psylocke is a little to quick, and since we’ve go Bedlam and Pete Wisdom, along with Bill Skarsgard playing either Zeitgeist or Rictor, which are both out there, Surge seems about right. Deadpool drops in a little under 2 months on May 18th! Does the trailer or any of this information influence your excitement? Let us know what you think!
It is amazing that in this day and age, with all the ability to figure out what’s happening before it’s happened, we are at somewhat of a loss here. There are two prevailing rumors on who we are looking at in the above screenshot, but the real confusion is created in figuring out just who we’re looking at: one being that this is X-Force. An X-Force movie is in production, and these characters could fit into that schema. However, this could also be Six Pack. Just who are the other characters in this that aren’t Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Zazie Beetz (Domino.)
That is 100% Terry Crews and it’s been confirmed he’s in this movie. Original reports had him as Anarchist, but he could be anyone from Bedlam, to G.W. Bridge (I hope note – I need Bridge to have the trademark full white mane,) to Garrison Kane to Hammer. By the look of the face, which looks like some kind of goggles, I’d say it’s Anarchist, but if they put the giant X on the side of his head, Bedlam would be cool, too.
The character between Domino and Deadpool in the picture appears to be Zeitgeist, again due to the yellow masking around the mouth, but others have speculated it could be a somewhat gender-fluid Feral, who is expected to at least cameo. Rumors are that Bill Skarsgård is in the movie, and this looks like it could be him. I’m hoping for Zeitgeist.
Finally, this is definitely Shatterstar. Stefan Kapičić, who plays Colossus, admitted as much in an interview with the Inverse Entertainment website. Ryan Reynolds kind of demanded him for this film, so this is cool to see, but not a giant surprise.
We’re still waiting on seeing Sunspot, who we also expect to see in this film as well. Last movie, they couldn’t afford to have all the guns they wanted and had to make 3 characters into one. This time, they’ve got heroes we haven’t seen in the first two trailers. Is it over-stuffed? Tell us what you think!
