James Gunn Stakes His Confidence A Strong Sequel, Confirms His Return For Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 3

46903548.cached

“So, yes, I’m returning to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.”

With that simple statement in a Facebook post on his page, earlier today, James Gunn locked in some great news, prior to the release of Vol. 2, coming May 5th. In the post, Gunn talks about the difficulties of putting together the sequel to the surprise hit, the desire not to do a third, solely for the money, and not wanting to, “become a part of that dishonorable tradition of pretending the third one doesn’t exist.”

He closes the post with shoutouts to the entire Marvel Studios team, Marvel comics, Stan Lee and of course, the Guardians. Truly a classy post and one that shows the heart and quality of the talent Marvel consistently puts together. Looking forward to the opening of Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 on May 5th. You know we’ll be discussing it in detail!

The Russo’s have info on the future of Chris Evans and we cover how Doug Liman’s new gig as director of Justice League Dark affects an already wobbly Gambit movie. We close out Marvel news with info on the exciting New Mutants movie.

On the DC side of things, the Arrowverse is teaming with news. We talk about the excitement over The Flash adding more and more speedsters, plus Wil Traval jumps from Marvel to a role on Arrow. Supergirl is getting Miss Martian but we don’t know who it is yet. We’re wondering just who may get the role in the human form! Finally, The Flash movie is getting a familiar set of villains, and we are not that excited about it.
