The Penguin The Main Villain For The Batman

penguin.jpg

It is no secret that the DCEU has been under what many can consider to be a major overhaul. They are trying to get on track under new president of DC films Walter Hamada. This includes the upcoming James Wan directed, Aquaman starring Jason Momoa, the David Samberg helmed, SHAZAM starring Zachary Levi as well as the sequel to the blockbuster Wonder Woman directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot.

Included in this are many films that have been announced and have yet to go into production, some for some time now. One of those being the solo caped crusader film, The Batman directed by Matt Reeves. Now many are wondering with is going on with this project, will Ben Affleck stay on as the Dark Knight and also who will be the main villain. Now originally it was set to be the mercenary known as Deathstroke, played by Joe Manganiello but that has been since cancelled.  But now according to a series of tweets by Variety reporter Justin Kroll we may know who the main baddie will be.

Now it would seem almost obvious that the correct route would be to have the Penguin in the Birds of Prey film but for those who remember Danny Devito’s performance in Batman Returns, a darker and expanded route with the character than it could work. Let us know your thoughts on this. Do you want the Penguin, would you rather had Deathstroke or do you want another villain?

We May Know Who The “Big Bad” For Season 5 of The Flash Will Be

cicada.jpg

The Season Four finale of The Flash left us open to some possiblities moving  forward. First we saw….oh yeah spoilers ahead, we saw the team defeat The Thinker and in the process getting Ralph Dibny back as part of the team. We also got the official confirmation that the mystery woman who turned out to be a speedster is actually Nora Allen, the daughter of Barry and Iris from the future.

Now thanks to a casting breakdown from ThatHashtagShow.com we may have an idea as to who will be the main foe for Team Flash as they head into their fifth season.

The show is casting for a character named Desmond Paull, which is more than likely a code name but check out the breakdown

“An open ethnicity role for a man in his 40s. “Desmond” is a meta-human who, after a mysterious interaction with dark matter, was given not only immortality but also the gift to disable other meta-human powers. He blames metas for everything that has gone wrong in his life and because of that, his mission is to wipe Central City free of them in order to silence his own anguish. Whoever gets cast as “Desmond”, he would be a one year fractional series regular.”

Now of course Desmond Paullis not the characters name. It seems as if the Flash’s foe will be David Hersch a.k.a. Cicada! Cicada was created by Geoff Johns, he first appeared in Flash #170 (volume 2) in March 2001, as he got his powers when being struck by a bolt of lightning while trying to end his own life. So we wont see him develop his abilities from a particle accelerator explosions as most of the meta-humans in Central City have. This is after having murdered his own wife. Cicada strongly believed that he and the scarlet speedster were somehow connected, due to the fact that they gained powers by similar events.

In the comics Hersch also forms the Cicada cult. The cult’s followers carried out the mission to kill anyone that The Flash had saved. To carry this mission out they would use daggers that would be shaped like lightning bolts to murder these people. Its kind of necessary to point out as well that Cicada is one of Wally West’s villains when he was carrying the mantle of the Flash. But the story line can work just as well with this version of the Flash, Barry Allen

The dampening of other meta-humans’ abilities definitely seems to be a creative choice  for the character as it does not directly mention the usage of the lightning bolts but that may change. Also having someone who wants to punish the meta-humans in Central City, is a great way to set up the big bad being Cicada….if it is indeed him.

Now that we have a clue as to who MIGHT be the main bad guy, let us know if you have any suggestions as to who you would like in the role.

Ryan Coogler Would Like Donald Glover in Black Panther 2

And to be quite honest this would bot be a bad idea by any means. As of now it is a hope by many of us who never quite thought about it at first but after director of the IMMENSELY successful, Black Panther, Ryan Coogler who is in the process of developing a sequel to the film information was released by the UK Metro, my hairs are standing on end as I type this.

Ryan Coogler is currently mapping out Black Panther’s sequel and has written in a number of new characters that movie-goers will be introduced to when it premieres. One of those characters, if he gets his wish, will be played by Childish Gambino. Nothing is set in stone but “informal talks” [are happening] between Ryan, Gambino and reps from Marvel and Disney to see if they can make it happen. They’re still yet to decide if Michael B Jordan will return in some capacity but if he doesn’t it’s likely Gambino may play some kind of villain.

Coogler did consult with Glover on the first movie, so this wouldn’t be too far-fetched – but there may be a slight issue – Glover is already in the MCU remember he portrayed Aaron Davis aka “The Prowler” in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  However it is not impossible for an actor to be more than one character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alfre Woodard who portrays “Black Mariah” in the Netflix Luke Cage series also played the small role of Miriam, in Captain America: Civil War, the mother who lost her son to the destruction of Sokovia in Avengers: Age Of Ultron.  There is even Tony Curran who played Bor in Thor: The Dark World and Finn Cooley in Daredevil (Netflix). So it is possible. This is kind of contingent if they decide to expand Glover’s role within the Spider-Man universe.

The next is the possible return of Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger. Now (spoiler Alert) he dies in the first Black Panther film so many would wonder how could that happen. I have a theory…..are you ready for it? Even though Killmonger is dead, he was officially a Black Panther, the protector of Wakanda and he received an official burial so T’challa may potentially see him when he goes to the astral plane to speak with the ancestors and panthers past.

Now it is worth noting that NONE OF THIS is confirmed and may have to be taken with a grain of salt but at the same time can still make the hopes begin to rise. Let us know your thoughts. Would you like to see Donald Glover in Black Panther 2? I would like a Childish Gambino concert in Wakanda. How do you feel about a potential Michael B. Jordan return. Let us know your thoughts.

Legends Of Tomorrow Gives Us A Season 4 Synopsis and Poster

DCs-Legends-Of-Tomorrow-CW-Season-4-Poster

The third season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow was a perfect culmination of another hilarious and adventurous trek through time and history with unexpected implications. We saw all six of the totems of Zambesi be used to form a giant Beebo to defeat Mallus (even though many of us were really hoping for Voltron) and once our heroes seemingly with the new inclusion of Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) were able to relax knowing time had been restored.

That was until John Constantine (Matt Ryan) showed up with a dragon’s head and informed the captain, Sara Lance that upon freeing Mallus they opened up time and history to an entire new horde of threats. The season finale also saw “Vixen”, Amaya return home to her village in Zambesi to her rightful place in time and leave her budding relationship with Nate Heywood.

Now this sounds pretty much simple as to guess how we would be rolling into season four, right? Well maybe not, a new synopsis of Season 4 has been released as well as a poster of the team that may raise a few eyebrows. Check out the synopsis below.

After defeating the demon Mallus by cuddling him to death with a giant stuffed animal named Beebo, the Legends are ready to ease off the gas. Sara (Caity Lotz) and her team join Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) and the Time Bureau to help clean up the last few remaining anachronisms. The job seems straightforward enough until Constantine (Matt Ryan) arrives to inform them that, in solving one major problem, they have created another, much larger one. When the Legends let time crumble in order to release and defeat Mallus, the barrier between worlds softened. History is now infected with “Fugitives” – magical creatures from myths, fairytales, and legends. Having been expelled throughout time by people like Constantine, these Fugitives are now returning to our world in droves and making a real mess of things. As the Time Bureau is distrustful of and ill-equipped to deal with magic, the Legends must team up with everyone’s favorite demonologist to set history back on track.

Sara and Constantine are joined by compassionate inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), hotheaded ex-con Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), rebellious totem-bearer Zari (Tala Ashe), and heartbroken historian-turned-superhero Nate (Nick Zano) as they set out to save the world – and their legacy. It’s the familiar fun of the Legends time-travelling across historical events and encountering famous figures with an added shot of magical craziness!

Now if you noticed, Ava Sharpe is not in the poster, more than likely her full duties as director of the Time Bureau may keep her not as involved even though its been stated that she will indeed return as a series regular for this upcoming season. Also not in the poster is Wally West. It was said that he is supposed to be a regular on the show but could he possibly be returning to The Flash??.

Another item that has piqued interest is the inclusion of Amaya in the poster but not in the synopsis. How might that play out when we was saw her she was stating that she wanted to stay with her village.

Are you excited for the next season of DC’s rag tag band of heroes?  DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns on Monday’s in October. Let us know your thoughts.

The Longbow Hunters Are Coming to Arrow

longbow_hunters_prime_earth_0002.jpg

At the time of typing this we are getting prepared for the season 6 finale of Arrow on the CW. Team Arrow is once again back together to take on Ricardo Diaz and the soul of Star City hangs in the balance.

On top of the high stakes within this season finale that is titled “Life Sentence” it also marks the end of both Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle as showrunners as well as a farewell to Paul Blackthorne who for the past 6 years has portrayed Quentin Lance. Guggenheim while speaking with TV Line gave a bit of an easter egg as what fans can expect heading into season seven,  “I will say that the reference to the Longbow Hunters is us planting a flag, much the same way we referenced Damien Darhk in the Season 3 finale.”

The Longbow Hunters made their first appearance in the New 52’s Green Arrow#31, penned by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Andrea Sorrentino. The team consist of the DC Comics version of Arrow’s Ricardo Diaz, Richard Dragon, and included Red Dart, Brick, Count Vertigo and Killer Moth.  Now we have seen a few of these characters in the show before, Brick or Danny Brickwell was portrayed by Vinny Jones and Count Vertigo has been “reborn” in the series.

How do you feel about this inclusion of a new super team of villains and are you looking forward to season seven.

Batwoman Is Heading Into the Arrowverse

The Arrowverse is expanding once again and this time its adding another classic DC Comics character.  This time it is in the form of Kathy Kane aka Batwoman. She will be making her arrival in the next massive crossover that features all of the Arrowverse shows which include Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash and Supergirl. Kane was originally introduced in DC comics back in 1956 and was re-imagined into the “New 52”. Her character now is a Jewish lesbian which potentially means another superhero love affair for Sara Lance (played by Caity Lotz).

Arrow star Stephen Amell shared the amazing news at The CW’s upfront presentation. “We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’ll be doing another crossover event this fall on the CW, and we’ll be introducing a new character,” Amell said. “For the very first time appearing, we’ll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it.”

CW boss Mark Pedowitz added. “We are adding the city of Gotham into the Arrowverse,” “This will be another full-throttled, action-packed event.”

We have constantly been teased about the arrival of Gotham City within the Arrowverse. It was referenced in Supergirl by both Kara (Supergirl) who said her cousin has worked with a guy with a lot of tech and gadgets. Also by a couple who stated “we need to go back to Gotham” In The Flash in Season one the newspaper in which they kept going to about the future stated the Wayne Tech was merging with Queen Consolidated. Also in Arrow while Oliver Queen was still mayor of Star City and being questioned at a press conference mentioned both Gotham and Bruce Wayne by name.

Are you excited for Karly Kane’s arrival and are you hoping this will lead into seeing Bruce himself? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Greg Berlanti Scores Again This Time With DOOM PATROL

doom-patrol-2

It is no secret that Greg Berlanti is the King of the DC tv universe. With 5 shows currently on the CW renewed for new seasons and Titans heading to the DC Universe streaming platform why by any means would he ever slow down. This news proves that he definitely is not losing any steam.

Berlanti has partnered once again with Warner Bros and DC entertainment have been given a 13-episode direct-to-series order to hour long live-action drama Doom Patrol. It is set to go into production this year with its release in 2019 on the DC streaming platform.

The synopsis of the series Doom Patrol is going to be a re-imagining of the beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief).  For those who do who the Partol are, The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

The series is set to pick up after the events of the Titans series and the heroes are going to be “united” by Cyborg. Now that doesn’t mean if we will or won’t see Cyborg in the Titans series.

Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) will pen the series based on the DC characters originally written and drawn by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani.

Are you excited for this or what?!?! Let us know what you think.
