In case you’ve forgotten, which, of course you haven’t – we get a new one of these every two years, whether they’re good or not – there is a new X-Men movie on the way. Despite the wealth of X-Men stories in the comics built around essentially the current team of cinematic characters, Simon Kinberg is going back to the Phoenix Saga to tell the story of Jean Grey and the X-Men in space, where they will face of with Jessica Chastain, this go-round.
Entertainment Weekly has a full story and pictures, explaining that Kinberg actually wrote the script for the previous cinematic attempt at telling the Dark Phoenix story, that one starring Famke Janssen as the titular hero gone nuclear. Bryan Singer, who was at the helm for the last two X-Men films, is sitting this one out as Kinberg takes over directing duties, and considering Singer’s recent issues and stories of previous problems coming to light, that may mean good things.
